In recent years independent retreaders have come under increased pressure due to a variety of factors. Increased bureaucracy and legislative demands, the continued influx of cheap new tyres from the Far East, increased costs of raw materials and transport, shortages of qualified workforce to name but a few.

In a world where independent companies are finding it increasingly difficult to operate solely as a retreader, how does the future look for those wishing to stay in the industry?

How can independent retreaders become more cost-efficient, what opportunities are available to them to help them expand and flourish, and what help is available from suppliers, trade associations, tyre manufacturers and others to help them optimise their businesses?
